PacRim Engineering, Inc. (PacRim), a provider of diverse civil engineering consulting services, has joined the Honolulu Rail Transit Project (HRTP). The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation (HART) is the public transit authority responsible for the planning, construction, and expansion of a fixed guideway transit system for the HRTP. The HRTP is a 20-mile fixed guideway rail system with 21 stations extending from East Kapolei to Ala Moana Center. The City of Honolulu estimates that by 2030, nearly 70% of Oahu’s population and more than 80% of the island’s jobs will be located along this 20-mile rail corridor.

PacRim is supporting the Parsons Transportation Group by providing independent analytical checks for the structural designs of four Honolulu Light Rail stations: Pearl Harbor Naval Base Station, Honolulu International Airport Station, Lagoon Drive Station, and Middle Street Transit Center Station. The performed analytical check consists of analyzing the entrance structure, train control and communications facilities, and vertical circulation leading to the guideway structure.

Gilbert Guevara, P.E., a PacRim Project Manager and Engineer for HRTP says,

It’s always exciting to see projects of this caliber come to fruition, which fosters sustainability, considers interaction of its natural surroundings and improves the quality of life for the local community. To help make the project reality is the cherry on top.
