California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA – Gas Line Installation

Cal Tech Gas LineCaltech constructed a new fuel cell plant on-site to assist with their power demands.  The plant required over 1100 feet of new gas line run from the street through the campus to the new plant location.  This new line needed to avoid existing utilities, including numerous electrical services, water lines, a sewer line, a utility corridor tunnel, and a pedestrian tunnel. PacRim served as the civil engineer for this project and prepared gas line routing plans showing the new gas lines and the potential conflicts.  The plans included instructions to the contractor for horizontal directional drilling, as well other necessary details.
