October 10, 2018 – SAN DIEGO, CA. Today at its membership meeting, the Society of American Military Engineers (SAME) welcomed Joe Boscacci (Army Col. Ret.) from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency program promoting cooperation and understanding between civilian employers and their National Guard and Reserve employees.
Col. Boscacci presented the Patriotic Employer Award to Rick Rubin and Travis Pital of PacRim Engineering, Inc. (PacRim) to recognize the high level of support that PacRim—as well as Rick and Travis as individuals—has demonstrated in supporting employees serving in the United States Armed Forces Guard and Reserve (Guard). The ESGR’s mission is to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of their employees.
PacRim has made it a part of their core offerings to provide service to our military branches to help further the quality and resiliency of Government infrastructure and support our soldiers, sailors, and their families through quality of life-enhancing improvements. Consistent with these core offerings, and in support of the ESGR’s mission, PacRim actively seeks to hire Guardsmen, Reservists, transitioning service members and Veterans.
Connor Fenwick, who currently serves as a reservist in the Guard was hired by PacRim with full knowledge that he has a 5-month service obligation in the early part of 2019 to the guard. PacRim could foresee the contributions that Connor would make in the company and values his service to the nation; and as a result, brought him on board. When Connor completes his service obligation in 2019, he will return to PacRim to continue his career as a Civil Engineer.
A statement of pledge with the ESGR signed by U.S. Secretary of Defense, James N. Mattis, and National Chair of ESGR, Craig R. McKinley, was presented at today’s meeting. Mr. Rubin and Mr. Pital were also each presented with a letter and plaque recognizing their commitment.
