Home/Civil Engineering, Facility Renovations and Management, Military/Federal, Structural Engineering/Construct New Guard Shack at Front Gate (Facility 00986)

This project consisted of the design and construction of a new replacement Guard Shack at the Main gate of Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake. Work includes the demolition and deconstruction plan for the existing 1942 guard building and replacing it with a pre-engineered building (PEB, including ballistics protection, HVAC, communications, gate and final denial barrier controls, lighting, and a water cooler. Existing utilities were maintained during the demolition and deconstruction operations so that they could be reutilized.

As the prime Designer of Record to the Design-Builder, PacRim provided Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Civil, and Structural Engineering as well as Construction support services. The project involved replacing the existing guard booth structure with a PEB without impacting the recently renovated Entry Control Point improvements that surround the booth area, including an overhead canopy.
