The Port of Los Angeles (Port) is a major seaport serving as a “Gateway to the Pacific” both to the Southern California region and the nation. The Port has a need for occasional outside engineering services to supplement the efforts of the Harbor Department engineering staff in order to expedite important projects (small to moderate size).

PacRim, part of the VCA Team, was selected by the Port as one of three engineering consultants among a pool of 25 proposed firms to serve as their on-call engineering consultants for a period of three years. The scope of the contract includes providing complete engineering services that require preparing drawings, plans, specifications, cost estimates, calculations, studies, and reports and/or providing support for other engineering assistance.

Some of the technical issues involved include coastal engineering, tidal effects on facilities, corrosive marine environment, high groundwater effects, and deep foundation designs.
